⚠️ Stripe has deprecated the Plaid gateway

In case you haven't heard yet, Stripe has stopped maintaining the API they use for their Plaid integration. Stripe now considers their Plaid integration deprecated. 

Who is affected?

This may impact anyone with the GiveWP Stripe add-on who wishes to use the Plaid gateway.

How will it impact me?

If you're already using Plaid, you should be able to continue using it. Stripe and Plaid still provide the integration, and we do not plan to remove it from the Stripe add-on.

Support may be limited by the fact that Stripe is not updating the API. We have not seen any issues for current users, but some could arise in the future.

New users may not be able to connect with Plaid at all. Stripe is not allowing new Stripe accounts to access Plaid as a payment method, so that will prevent using Plaid on GiveWP. 

What should I do?

We recommend switching to Stripe ACH to get ahead of future issues. Or, if you use the Visual Builder, you can use the Stripe Payment Element gateway, which also supports ACH.

You may still want to keep the Stripe add-on to reduce fees or use additional payment methods with forms that were not created with the Visual Form Builder.
